TOKYO BY NIGHT | GOLDEN GAI & EBISU WITH HIROYUKI MURAKAMI
Once a notorious red light district before prostitution was criminalised in 1958, Golden Gai in Shinjuku is a well-known area for artists, critics, filmmakers, musicians, actors, writers, and academics. Made up of a network of narrow alleyways and passages, Golden Gai consists of over 200 small clubs, restaurants, and bars; among them, 'Kodoji', the infamous photographer's bar frequented by Daido Moriyama, and Nobuyoshi Araki, as well as SOME/THINGS ISSUE001 contributor Antoine D'agata.
